Bebe Care Fusion Stroller (Phantom Black) Review
◆ Research
When it came time to consider what stroller/pram we would purchase for our baby, we decided to put a little research into some of the current offering the market has available.
We were on a flexible budget so most models were in the running. Straight off we eliminated anything over $1000. After shopping around for reviews online and in stores around our area, we had the following models to consider:
- Steelcraft Strider range
- Steelcraft Enigma (reverse handle)
- Steelcraft Profile Layback
- Peg Perego Pliko P3
- Maclaren Vogue
- Maclaren Techno XT
- Roger Armstrong Elfin 2
- Swallow Beema Q Elite
- Jeep 3 wheel
- Jeep 4 wheel
- United Colors of Benetton (3 wheeler)
- Childcare Captiva
- Bebe Care Fusion
Steelcraft Strider:
Lets start with the popular Strider series. Looks very pleasing on the eye, but try lifting it... oh my, it weighs too much... fail.
Steelcraft Enigma:
nearly received my money had the shop assistant not informed me of the Steelcraft Profile Layback. The Enigma was cheap and the reversible handle is a great feature, however the Enigma failed the collapse and folding test. Very difficult to fold and fasten... fail.
Steelcraft Profile Layback:
After searching and locating this in a local store I was considering this purchase with some degree of seriousness. The look and colour is pleasing but again the collapse and folding test... failed.
Maclaren:
Both models seemed inappropriate for a baby to me so they were ticked off my list. (Would highly consider them when baby grows older however).
Roger Armstrong Elfin 2 ( Babyco )
Is a 3 wheeler and got some serious attention. It certainly passed the weight, collapse and folding test, but it did look like a 6 year old could break it. The tubing used look so small and cheap... fail.
Swallow Beema Q Elite ( Babyco )
Nice and solid but again, the weight factor comes into play... fail.
Jeep 3 wheel: ( Big W )
Not to bad, but didn't really gel with me as I didn't spend too much time looking at it.
Jeep 4 wheel: ( Big W )
Again very good, but as with the 3 wheel, not enough time spent assessing it.
United Colors of Benetton: ( Babies Galore)
A 3 wheeler model which is a nice looking unit, passable on the weight and collapsed okay. (Was on my short list).
Child Care Captiva: ( Target )
This model is manufactured out of the same factory as the Bebe Care Fusion. One noticeable difference between it and the Bebe Care Fusion is that the Child Care Captiva is a 3 wheeler, (Technically it has 4 wheels but the front 2 wheels are just centimeters apart and locked together). This model only has a standard 1 year warranty where the Bebe Care Fusion has a 2 year, (more on that later). (Was on my short-list).
Peg Perego Pliko: ( Babies Galore )
Very well constructed with much attention paid to the design. Has great looks with the bonus of being solely manufactured in Italy and not in China like most are.
By this stage anything over $500 was too expensive.
Bebe Care Fusion: ( Babies Galore )
Our decision was for an 'all-round' stroller would be the Bebe Care Fusion. There are many reasons for this which I will explain further on.
We purchased it through Babies Galore for $ 279.99. We could have purchased it cheaper from online retailers, but the biggest pitfall with online retailers is returning your product to them for warranty purposes if the supplier doesn't offer an onsite pickup warranty.
One a side note, it took Babies Galore 2.5 weeks from ordering to delivery of this model. If your in a hurry, online retailers maybe a quicker alternative.
